Production Scout is an iOS application for filmmakers to remotely view potential shooting locations from the perspective of the people who live there. This application was created as one of my Udacity iOS Nano-degree Program submissions. I am using Flickr under a non-commercial license to populate this free app. My focus is to round out my portfolio as I pursue my career as an iOS developer.
Intended Experience Upon opening the app, a map view is displayed. The user can zoom into an area of interest to find a very specific place on the map. A long press there places a pin. A short press on the pin moves the user to a collection view of 20 pictures taken in that area. That view also includes a mini map displaying the city the pictures were taken in. The user can then reload the collection, delete pictures or tap on a picture to show that photo full screen. This process of discovering a unique locals view of the area can help filmmakers with better and more informed decisions on whether to film in that area. Production Scout also gives a unique glimpse in to the substance and style of life in the area.
